You know something needs to change…

You know you can’t just keep going on as you are….

But…. change is scary!

I started planning my escape from my Real Estate business while watching the European Track Cycling championships in Germany in July 2007. I knew I didn't want to be a Real Estate agent anymore.

Selling my business was probably the most stressful life event I’d experienced up to that point. By now, it’s early 2008, and I have no idea what to do with myself.

So, I gave myself some career space and started training as a full-time athlete. Within six months, I won a British Masters Cycling Championship. People suddenly started asking me to coach them, and that's how I moved from Real Estate to full-time professional cycling coaching.

I thought my journey would end with me working as a National team coach for USA Cycling, culminating in the 2028 Olympics. But then COVID happened, and everything changed once again. I had to pivot quickly and, by chance, discovered leadership coaching, which I now feel is my life's purpose.

My story shows that you don't always need to know what your next step will be. Sometimes, it's about following your instincts and recognizing when something no longer serves you. It's okay to be afraid of change, but the most successful people take action despite their fears.

So, it took three major career changes, and the sale of three businesses led to where I am now

You don't always need to know your next step. Learn to follow your heart/gut and be clear when something is no longer serving you, then create the space to figure out what’s next.

“The Only Constant in Life Is Change.”- Heraclitus

It’s okay to be afraid of change. All the great leaders I know feel that fear. What makes them successful is that they still take action while embracing fear.

So ask yourself: what needs to change in your life right now? What is no longer serving you?
