Can you please just tell me what to do?!
How many of us have experienced wanting someone to come and tell us what to do when we are facing adversity in our businesses or going through a stressful time?
I know I’ve felt this many times when I’ve been unsure what to do. When I’ve been struggling to find the “perfect solution.”
Yet, when I do get that advice, it often doesn't land quite right because it’s not really what my intuition is telling me.
In those moments, we look for someone to come and take our discomfort away. Most of us have the answers we are seeking; we are just afraid of doing what our intuition tells us is right.
Get used to being okay with discomfort. It’s the place that gives us the most information about what we need to do.
Normalize discomfort for yourself and others. It’s part of the human process.
Instead of looking to be “rescued,” stop, listen, and be curious. What is my discomfort telling me? What changes am I avoiding making in my company, with my team, or in my personal life?
As all elite athletes know, discomfort is a vital part of the process of improvement and success. It’s the same for founders and leaders.
Embrace the discomfort, learn from it, and grow!
