I’m worried that being coached will make me soft….

I will lose my edge….

On a recent episode of Simon Sinek’s podcast, Steven Bartlett, successful entrepreneur and host of “Diary of a CEO,” was asked to share some of his most pivotal realizations.

What he shared echoed my own experience: “Working with a coach/therapist doesn't steal your ambition. It makes you aware of, and able to move past your fake ones.”

I’ve heard leaders and high performers say, “I can’t work with a coach because I will lose my edge,” a false belief that they will lose the drive to succeed by working on themselves and finding more inner peace and harmony.

I remember telling my therapist that my anger towards my dad and my drive to prove myself were what I believed made me successful.

Well, here I am, two careers later, doing what I love and being, what most would consider, way more successful than I was back then!

All the work I’ve done via men’s groups, therapy, and being coached has led to this—my most authentic, aligned, and purposeful self.

I didn't lose my edge, rather I learned and understood the blocks holding me back.

This is the work I most enjoy with my clients: uncovering who they are at their essence and who their most fulfilled and authentic self is. From this place, they are free to be brilliant and create what is right for them in every area of their lives.

What would you uncover if you could let go of these limiting beliefs and patterns? Where would your drive take the healthiest version of you?
